Brilliance and Light, a yoga & meditation inspired sonic journey
for healing & transformation. Dedicated to the teachers, guides, healers and students of the light. Namaste.

In the Spring of 2011, singer-songwriter Katie Elevitch asked her longtime musical collaborator and producer Riley McMahon to help her create a sonic record of her healing and transforming 7 month long yoga teacher training intensive that began in September 2010. "Brilliance and Light", the resulting album, marks a new musical direction for Elevitch/McMahon, in which the music favors improvisation, programming and extensive vocals/sounds overdubs, and blends rock instrumentation with jazz, dance, ambient and world music influences.

Movement 1: Brilliance and Light
A sonic meditation on authentic connection, communication, giving and receiving love, healing and wisdom, and the student/teacher relationship in all its forms. Lyrics utilize the Teacher Student Prayer in both Sanskrit and English.

Movement 2: Changing Fires
A heart opening, breath connecting, 2nd & 3rd Chakra (Creativity/Sexuality & Power) stimulating, upbeat dance track designed for vinyasa yoga or free dance movement.

Movement 3: Patience and Gravity
A grounding, 1st & 7th Chakra (Roots/Foundation, Consciousness, Liberation) immersion, designed for meditation, gentle slow flow yoga and cool down, plus Savasana. Themes: Awareness, Truth, Transformation, Trust, Release.
Mantra: "Om Na Ma Shavaya".
